Developing Themes Dot is a publication for people who build the web. We write practical guides on frameworks, JavaScript, and the tools that turn an idea into something people can use. Each article aims to leave you with one thing you can try in your own project that day.
What you will find here
- Noderyx Framework: tours of the framework that powers this site, from routing to deployment.
- Frameworks: how requests become pages, and how to organize an application so it stays easy to change.
- JavaScript: patterns that improve real pages, with progressive enhancement first.
- Developer Tools: build, test, and release habits that catch problems before readers do.
Built in the open, on the stack we write about
This site is a working Noderyx CMS project. The articles you read are stored by the same CmsStore service our guides describe. They are rendered by the same Noderframe templates and styled by the same theme. When we explain a pattern, we can usually point to the file in this project where it runs.
This keeps us honest. If a guide recommends a habit, such as restarting the server after changing a route, it is because we have been caught out by that mistake while building this site.
How to read along
- Use search on the home page to filter stories by any word in their title or summary.
- Pick a category tab to focus on one topic, or open a category archive from any article.
- Press the star on a story card to save it to your reading list. The list lives in this browser only.
- Switch between light and dark mode with the ◐ button in the header.
Is there a framework concept, tool, or error message you want explained? Send it through the Contact page. Reader questions shape what we write next.
Where to start
New to Noderyx? Begin with "Noderyx Framework: start with the project structure", then continue with "Build a publishing workflow with Noderyx CMS". If you want the bigger picture first, "A practical map of a web framework" traces a single request from URL to rendered page.
